Q: Why do I get disconnected after sending or receiving e-mail?
A: You might have the option, hang up after sending and receiving selected.
To remove this option:
  1. Open Outlook Express
  2. Click on the "Tools" menu
  3. Click on the "Options" option
  4. Click on the "Connection" tab
  5. Click to un-check the "Hang up after send/rec" option
  6. Click OK


Q: When I go into the Internet or e-mail, it doesn't bring up my dial-up box, what do I do?
A: Windows 95, 98 and ME Users:
  1. Click the "Start" button
  2. Click on "Settings"
  3. Click on "Control Panel"
  4. Double click on "Internet Options"
  5. Click on the "Connections" tab
  6. Click to put a dot in front of "Always Dial my Default Connection"
  7. Click "OK" to close the window


Windows XP Users:
  1. Click the "Start" button
  2. Click on "Control Panel"
  3. Double click on "Internet Options"
  4. Click on the "Connections" tab
  5. Click to put a dot in front of "Always Dial my Default Connection"
  6. Click "OK" to close the window


Q: How do I disable call waiting on my computer
A: Windows 95, 98 and ME Users:
  1. Double click on "My Computer"
  2. Double Click on "Dial-up Networking"
  3. Right click on your Dakota Central icon and then click on "Properties"
  4. Make sure there is a check mark in front of "Use area code and dialing properties" and click "OK"
  5. Double click on the Dakota Central icon and click on "Dialing Properties"
  6. Select "To disable call waiting"
  7. Click on the down arrow and choose "70#, or *70"
  8. Click "OK"


Win XP Users:
  1. Click on the "Start" button
  2. Click on " Control Panel"
  3. Click on " Network Connections"
  4. Right click on the Dakota Central icon and click on "Properties"
  5. Make sure "Use Dialing Rules" is checked and click on the "Dialing Rules" button
  6. Click on the "Edit" button and check "To disable call waiting, dial" in the box select "70#, or *70"
  7. Click "OK" out of all the windows.


Q: How do I change my dial-up number?
A: Win 95, 98 and ME Users:
  1. Double click on "My Computer"
  2. Double click on "Dial-up Networking"
  3. Right click on your Dakota Central icon and click on "Properties"
  4. Delete out the old dial up number and type in new one (for a list of local dial up numbers click here)
  5. Click "OK"


Windows XP Users:

Q: When I close out of Internet Explorer or Outlook Express, it doesn't ask me to disconnect, how do I do this?
