Dakota Central's Cross CountryNET Internet Service is a bi-directional, broadband wireless transmission system that operates in the 2.5 to 2.7 GHz range, at distances of up to 35 miles.
Cross CountryNET is a broadband fixed wireless system consisting of wireless hubs located in base stations and wireless modems that connect to subscribers' PCs or LANs. Cross CountryNET's hubs send and receive data at rates faster than T-1 speeds to thousands of residential subscribers within a 35-mile radius.

Is Cross CountryNET available in my area? |

Service is available within 35 miles of Dakota Central's tower located near Brush Hill (18 miles southwest of Carrington). A signal test by a DCT technician is required to determine availability.

What is included in the setup equipment? |

The start-up kit includes an Antenna (AVG. 12"x18"), Modem and necessary cabling. Business customers will also need an Ethernet Converter
*Note: Customers that currently have Dakota Central's CDTV service will only require a part change on the Antenna and a modem for installation equipment. The existing CDTV cabling and antenna can be utilized for the Cross CountryNET service.

Does this system require a clear line of sight from the local site antenna to the user? |

Yes, this technology can reach a customer 35 miles awa from the tower provided that there is a clear line of sight between the antenna and receiver/transmitter.

Is the daktel wireless service affected by adverse weather such as heavy rains or snow? |
| A: |
Unlike Ku band satellite technology (the technology used with most entertainment satellites), daktel uses high frequency radio waves, which are not affected by heavy rains or snows. However, service can be affected by heavy ice conditions as the antenna may become iced over.

What are the computer reuqirements to receive Daktel's Cross CountryNET Internet Service? |

You simply need a Pentium II Class PC with 32 MB of RAM, 100 MB of free disk space, Network Interface Card (NIC) and Windows 98.

Basic Troubleshoot Steps if your Cross CountryNET Wireless Internet service is down. |

- The Cross CountryNET modem should have a green sync light, indicating a link to the tower. If there is no light, unplug the power cord to the modem for 10 seconds. (The sync light can flash off and on for up to a minute before locking solid green)
- Once the green sync light is on perform the following:
- If you have Linksys router (blue in color) unplug the power cord for 10 seconds.
- Finally, shut down your computer for 10 seconds and turn it back on.
Windows 95, 98, ME Users:
- Click on Start
- Shutdown
- Click to put a dot in Shutdown and click OK
- Turn computer back on by pressing the power button
Windows XP Users:
- Click on Turn Off Computer
- Click on Turn Off
- Turn computer back on by pressing the power button
